Domain Registration Terms and Conditions
1. Definitions
These Terms and Conditions govern the registration of domain names under the Iraqi .IQ domain and apply to all .iq subdomains.
2. General Provisions
- Registration services are provided through accredited registrars.
- Users may choose any accredited registrar.
- Selecting a domain name does not grant intellectual property rights.
- Registrants must provide accurate information.
- Notifications sent to the registrant email are deemed received.
3. Domain Name Registration
Requirements
- Applications must comply with Registry Policy.
- The Registry may reject non-compliant requests.
- The registrant must enter into an agreement with an accredited registrar.
Domain Lifecycle
- Initial registration period: up to 5 years.
- Annual renewals allowed.
- Expiry notices sent 30 days prior.
- Grace and redemption periods apply.
4. Reserved and Blocked Names
The Registry maintains a reserved names list including:
- Government names
- Country names
- Names violating public order or morals
- Third-party trademarks
The Registry may modify the list at any time.
5. Delegation
- Accurate DNS information is required.
- At least two DNS servers must be provided.
- Delegation may be suspended or terminated in abuse cases or by court order.
6. Transfer of Domain Holder
Domain management rights may be transferred subject to policy restrictions.
7. Registrar Transfer
Domains may be transferred between accredited registrars per the policy.
8. Domain Cancellation
Cancellation occurs in cases such as:
- Policy violation
- Registrant request
- Court order
- Expiry of registration
9. Registration Data
Stored data includes:
- Registrant name
- Address
- Phone
- Technical data
Appropriate security measures must be applied.
10. Registrar Suspension
The Registry may impose restrictions on registrar activity to ensure system stability.
11. ASCII Domain Requirements
- Minimum 2 characters, maximum 63.
- Letters, numbers, and hyphen allowed.
- Must start and end with letter or number.
12. Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility varies by second/third-level domains (.iq, com.iq, net.iq, etc.).
13. Policy Violations
Violations include:
- Illegal or misleading registrations
- Phishing or fraud
- False information
- IP infringement
14. Policy Review
The Registry may amend this policy at any time with notice.
